HOW YOU CAN HELP

THE CASINO FREE MASS MOVEMENT!

1) GET INVOLVED AND IDENTIFY AT LEAST TEN OTHER PEOPLE OPPOSED TO LEGALIZING CASINOS

Your energy and passion are vital to the movement’s success. You’re the leader you’ve been waiting for. You need to recruit and identify at least ten people who share our opposition to building casinos across the state. Please send their names, email address, postal mailing address and phone number to contact@casinofreemass.org


2) DONATE

This battle will require resources. Every donation to CASINO FREE MASS will make a difference. You can donate by visiting the CasinoFreeMass.org website or mailing a check to: Casino Free Mass Treasurer, 43 Parsonage Road, Plympton MA 02367

3) CONTACT YOUR LEGISLATORS

Your state reps and senators will decide whether or not to green-light Governor Patrick's proposal to put three commercial casino licenses up to bid. Don't assume they know more about the issue than you!
Send them an e-mail, or better yet, make phone call to their office or write them a hand-written letter. (This will get their attention.) Let them know what you think, how you feel and that this issue is really important to you.


4) PERSUADE YOUR NEIGHBORS BY MAKING YOUR ARGUMENT HEARD

Write a letter to the editor and continually post entries on state and community blogs. Share what you've learned with the reading public. You will be surprised how much influence a published opinion can have in your community. Short letters usually get preference over long ones. Include your name, town and phone number (many newspapers will call and confirm that you want your editorial printed.) And here's a hint - don't just send your letter to your own local paper - send it to the local papers in surrounding towns. The impacts of casinos won't only limit themselves to the host town.
