Serving Greater New Bedford

Who are we?

The Inter-Church Council  is a Council of 45 churches in Greater New Bedford, Massachusetts, committed to knowing and sharing the transforming love of God as reflected in the life and teachings of Jesus, especially in his openness to all who thirst for God’s love and for the Spirit’s healing. It does this through ministries of proclaiming the Gospel, teaching and equipping for ministry, providing for those in need, and building  community.

Our purpose

THE COUNCIL’S purpose is "to foster cooperative Christian service and fellowship." Its mission is "to express the religious values of its members; to use member resources and energies to encourage collaborative spiritual, educational, and social opportunities; to assist in meeting the needs of its member congregations; to act as a channel for community outreach in promoting ecumenical cooperation, social, economic and racial justice and service to those in need; and to address public issues." - By-Laws, 1998
